Since 2011, the Oxi Day Foundation has regularly reminded U.S. policymakers and other thought leaders of Greece’s historic courage in WWII that helped save democracy. We’ve honored today’s world-renowned heroes who protect freedom and democracy in the David vs. Goliath spirit of the Greeks. Our OXI Courage Award is the first ever highlighting Greece that has engaged Presidents, global celebrities and Nobel Peace Prize recipients, current and future.

In 2024, we will go from celebrating courage one day a year in one (powerful) city, to spotlighting and spreading courage every day, everywhere. Our new Global Courage Awards will be presented in Washington in the Fall and around the world in the Spring (in a different hemisphere each year).

Celebrating and inspiring courage. Every Day. Everywhere.

Established in 2024 as an extension of the Oxi Day Foundation, It Takes Courage champions everyday acts of courage, seen and unseen, around the world, especially in young people, to ignite hope and move the world forward, together.

In addition, It Takes Courage will shine a light on everyday acts of courage – seen and unseen – around the world on our web site and social media platforms.
